LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, March 18 – Two motorcycle drivers were killed in separate highway accidents in Pangasinan last March 16, according to the police.

The fatality in the first accident was identified as Alex Alligado, 48, of Poblacion West, Alcala whose XRM motorcycle crashed into the trailer compartment sans any reflectorized light being pulled by a Kubota farm tractor.

The accident happened at 10:10 p.m. while the farm tractor with its trailer compartment loaded with sacks of corn driven by Rodrigo Olifernes, 42, was cruising along the highway in Barangay San Vicente, Alcala.

Initial investigation disclosed that the motorcycle was traveling to the east direction when it accidentally bumped the trailer compartment being pulled by the farm tractor also traveling along the same direction.

As a result, Alligado bumped his head into the steel trailer compartment and fell down in the concrete road as a result of the impact. He was brought by responding policemen to the Sto. Nino General Hospital in Bayambang town where he died on arrival.

The fatality in the other vehicular accident that happened along the national highway in Barangay Palacpalac, Pozorrubio at 11:30 p.m. of March 16 was identified as John Soriano, 27 of Barangay Batakil, also of that town.

Soriano was driving his Rusi motorcycle that collided head-on with a south-bound Mitsubishi Fuso truck loaded with LPG gas cylinders. At that time, Soriano had no crash helmet.

The collision occurred when the motorcycle driven by Soriano invaded the opposite lane into the path of the truck.

The victim was brought to the Pozorrubio Municipal Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician. (PNA)
