ILOILO CITY, March 15 – For maligning his integrity and person by imputing malicious and dishonest allegations, city council Plaridel Nava here will file libel charges against columnist and radio blocktimer Manuel Mejorada and publisher Rommel Ynion.

Nava said that Mejorada hit him during the mediaman’s morning radio program over a local radio station here last Wednesday and in several instances through commentaries and in a newspaper column.

Nava said that Mejorada is connecting him to the bombing early this year of Bali Hotel owned by Ynion. The city councilor believed that Ynion is the “brains” behind maligning the integrity of city mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and an attempt to discredit the city mayor before city residents.

The city councilor is a close political ally of the city mayor and considered a strong contender for a top position in the 2013 local elections.

Nava said the efforts of Mejorada and Ynion are desperate efforts that need a new suspect to their perceived accusations by using his own relative to hit him.

“Accusations must be from the mouth of credible persons and they need a new suspect and connection. I flatly denied any motive on these bombing incidents and even the shooting of a radio blocktimer. If these accusers have concrete evidences against me, they can always go to court and file charges against me,” Nava said. (PNA)
