SET, HRET execs testify on CJ Corona's allowances

MANILA, March 14 – Two officials of the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) and the House of Representatives (HRET) on Wednesday testified before the Senate Impeachment Court on the allowances received by Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Renato Corona.

SET Secretary Atty. Irene Guevarra, a witness of the defense, said that each member of the SET receives more than P121,000 of benefits and allowances.

Guevarra presented documents to the Impeachment Court relative to per diem allowances of Corona at the SET.

On the other hand, HRET Secretary Atty. Girlie Salarda, another witness of the defense, said that Corona received more than P3 million in allowances from the HRET.

Trial adjourned at 6:08 p.m. and will resume Thursday at 2 p.m. (PNA)
