Cult clash claims 2 lives in oil rich Nigeria

YENAGOA, Nigeria, March 13 — Nigeria's police in oil rich Bayelsa State has confirmed that two persons died when two rival cult groups clashed in Yenagoa, the state capital overnight.

State police spokesperson Eguaveon Emokpai told reporters on Monday that two persons were shot dead at the hospital junction area of the state.

Emokpai said six persons had been arrested in connection with the incident and that they were helping the police in investigations.

The incident followed a reprisal attack by one of the cult groups.

The latest incident brings to three the number of deaths recorded in cult related clashes in Yenagoa on Sunday. (PNA/Xinhua) RSV/mmg
