5.2 magnitude quake jolts Masbate, Albay and Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY, March 6 — A 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolted the provinces of Masbate, Albay and Sorsogon on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The earthquake of tectonic origin was felt in Masbate with intensity 6, Irosin Cabid-an Sorsogon intensity 4 and intensity 2 in this city.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake occurred at about 7:06 a.m. with a magnitude of 5.2 at the Ritcher scale and epicenter in Masbate City.

Ed Laguerta, Phivolcs resident volcanologist, said instruments located the earthquake at 12.40 degrees North, 123.63 degrees East, 3 kilometers North of Masbate, with depth of 23 kms. (PNA)
