OFW dies in Batangas tollway vehicular mishap

BATANGAS CITY, March 3 – An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) died while his wife was injured seriously in a vehicular mishap along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) tollway in Barangay San Andres, Malvar, Batangas on Friday, the Provincial Police Office (PPO) here said.

In a report to Senior Superintendent Ramon Acio, Batangas provincial police director, Inspector Liezel Dimaandal, PPO spokesperson, identified the fatality as 57-year-old Virgilio Salvador, who sustained multiple injuries in the head and body and died on the spot.

Dimaandal said that Salvador’s wife Milagros, who was rushed to the Mary Mediartrix Hospital in Lipa City, remains in critical condition.

She said police investigation showed the couple was on the northbound lane of the Star Tollway when Salvador lost control of the Toyota Hi-Ace van he was driving.

The vehicle crashed into a tree, killing Salvador instantly. (PNA) scs/CTB
