Drilon commits to the construction of 2-classroom building

ILOILO CITY, March 4 – In recognition of the noble undertakings of the 1Meal Program headed by businesswoman Teresa ‘Nene’ Chan, Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon has committed to the construction of a two-classroom building in a school that will be identified by the organization.

This was announced by Drilon during the short program that preceded the school painting project participated in by sailors of the United States Navy USS Chafee at Esteban Juntado Jr. Memorial Elementary School in Molo district, Saturday.

The recipient school of the painting project was also recommended by the 1Meal Program, which is currently a recipient of its other programs.

Drilon said he has been using his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to build classrooms all over the country in partnership with the Federation of Filipino- Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FFCCCI).

He added that in Iloilo, more than 100 classrooms have been constructed using his funds; the latest was inaugurated on Saturday, a two-classroom building with comfort room at the Pavia National High School.

He disclosed that school classrooms constructed in partnership with the federation is half the cost compared with government-constructed ones. (PNA)
