NEW DELHI, March 1 — India is initiating a railway corridor plan from Iran to Russia via Central Asian countries, reported local daily Indian Express Thursday.

The newspaper quoted government sources as saying on Wednesday that Indian officials had met with interlocutors from Central Asian countries in January to study the feasibility of an international north-south corridor from Iran to Russia via Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Experts have identified the missing links in the rail connectivity between Iran and Russia, according to the report, which said the plan will ensure a faster, more hassle-free and less expensive way to transport goods through Iran to Central Asian countries and Russia. (PNA/Xinhua) scs/utb
