Firefighters struggle through narrow roads in Novaliches fire

MANILA, Jan. 25 – Narrow roads hampered firemen rushing to stop a three-hour evening blaze in a residential-commercial block in Quezon City's Novaliches district Tuesday.

Firemen from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the volunteer group Text Fire Philippines struggled through the roads in a race against time.

No casualties nor extent of damage were reported.

The fire was reported to have started in a house made of light materials near a biscuit factory on Gen. Luis Street which leads to the North Luzon Expressway.

Several years ago, firefighters had a hard time passing through the area when they responded to a fire at the biscuit factory.

“The Quezon City government should make moves in widening General Luis Street,” a long-time resident said. (PNA) RMA/hbc/JCA
