6.2-magnitude quake hits far off Mexican coast

MEXICO CITY, Jan. 22 — An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale on Saturday jolted far off Mexico Pacific coast at 11: 47 a.m. (18:47 GMT), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake has affected communities in the south of Mexico and even Guatemala City, capital of Guatemala.

The tremor was also felt in parts of Mexico City, located more than 800 km from the epicenter, although reports of casualties or damages were not immediately available.

On Dec. 10, a strong earthquake of 6.5 magnitude rocked several states of Mexico, including Mexico City, which left three dead and several injured. (PNA/Xinhua) DCT/rsv/rsm
