DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 13 – Police investigators are still probing further the circumstances behind the shooting to death of a member of the breakaway group, Revolutionary Proletariat Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB), by a teenage girl in Barangay Azagra, Tanjay City in Negros Oriental early this week.

A police report said that around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, a certain Juwane Barillo, 36, said to be a member of the RPA-ABB, allegedly forced his way inside the house of the suspect, “Marie Rose” (not her real name) at Sitio Kandangki, Azagra, and allegedly threatened to kill her family.

“Marie Rose”, 17 years old, allegedly shot Barillo with a 9-millimeter pistol, which resulted in his instant death, the Tanjay police report said.

Police arrested the suspect and turned her over to the Social Welfare and Development Office of Tanjay City for custody, being a minor.

The firearm used in the shooting was not recovered as police investigators still could not determine who was its owner and whether the gun was licensed or not.

Tanjay police chief Domeneciano Distrito, Jr. said investigation showed Barillo allegedly suffered from some mental illness and had some interest in the girl.

The police recovered four empty shells of caliber 9-mm from the crime scene, Distrito said.

According to Distrito, he was also awaiting an official medico legal report from the Tanjay City Health Office. (PNA) RMA/JFP
