MANILA, Jan 12. — Philippine shares finished at 4,648.11 points, an all time high — rising 2.25 points or 0.04 percent.

During the session, over 3.261 billion shares valued at P6.421 billion changed hands.

However most stocks succumbed to profit taking, with only two of the six subindices ending in the green.

Holding Firms gained 1.05 percent, while Property managed a 0.52 climb.

Financials, Industrial, Services and Mining and Oil retreated.

Losers outpaced gainers 85 to 75, with 43 issues closing unchanged.

Analysts said the local bourse defied decline because investor confidence in the market was pretty much bullish.

Meanwhile Asian slipped as the euro hovered near a 16-month low on Thursday as worries about euro zone sovereign funding kept investors risk-averse ahead of a Spanish debt sale that was seen as a key test of confidence. (PNA)RMA/MPC
