DAGUPAN CITY, Jan. 4 — A vacationing security guard, hard on money, decided to singlehandedly stage a holdup but was immediately arrested by responding Dagupan City policemen.

The incident happened on busy Galvan Street here at about 1:00 p.m. on Jan. 2 when Elgen Agdana, 24, a security guard of 788 Security Agency based at Barangay Anolid, Mangaldan, barged into the Kartagram Money Gram branch office along Galvan st., armed with a handgun.

Agdana, who was on vacation from his watchman duty in Bauang, La Union, pointed his firearm on Sherry Kathleen De La Cruz, 29, branch processor, and took from her P24,000 cash.

Fearing for her life, De la Cruz got nervous and handed the money to the suspect.

When the suspect had left, De La Cruz went out of her office and called the police led by Inspector Junmar Gonzales who chased the holdup man who tried to hide in another establishment where he was subsequently arrested.

Recovered from the suspect were a Cal. 38 home-made revolver with four live ammunition and part of the stolen money, consisting of 10 pieces of P1,000 bills or P10,000.
