Iloilo City records biggest drop in crime incidents in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY, Oct. 26 – Iloilo City posted an almost 80 percent drop in the volume of crime incidents for the first quarter of the year, according to the report of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) that was submitted to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

Overall, the crime rate volume in Western Visayas was reduced by around 59 percent, disclosed NEDA Knowledge Management Division Chief Estela Paredes during the recent roundtable discussion in line with the celebration of the National Statistics Month this October.

Next to Iloilo City is the province of Guimaras which recorded an almost 73-percent drop in crime rate compared with the same period last year.

Crime incidents in Bacolod City on the other hand registered the lowest drop at around 39 percent.

Paredes also pointed out the increased crime solution efficiency by 20.89 percent as shown by the 34.54 percent efficiency in this year’s first quarter against the 28.57 efficiency rate for the same period in 2010.

“The remarkable crime efficiency solution performance is in Bacolod City,” she added.

Iloilo City on the other hand posted a 15.26 percent increased crime solution efficiency; Capiz has 18.41 and Guimaras has 23.53 and Negros Occidental with 5.97 percent.

There was a drop, however, in the crime efficiency solution performance in Aklan by 12.33 percent; Antique with 13.11 percent and Iloilo province, 1.44 percent.
