Cagayan grants scholarships to 2,361 poor but deserving students

TUGUEGARAO CITY Oct. 26 — Cagayan Governor Alvaro Antonio has granted the Bin-I Ti Agtutubo (BTA) scholarship for school year 2011-2012 to 2,361 students coming from the different municipalities of the province.

BTA Iskolar Inc. is a foundation being run by the provincial government of Cagayan through its People’s Action Center (PAC).

The scholarship program provides financial assistance for underprivileged students who are excelling academically.

The scholarship program is a rigid process of selection through an examination, interview and review of their family's basic income.

The program categories include the Student Assistance and Full Scholarship (SAFS), Cagayan Technical Education Scholarship Program (CTESP) and the On-The-Job training scholarship assistance.

"I encourage you to lead your peers in extending help to your communities. You can do your share by actively taking part in barangay activities such rescue and disaster-related assistance during calamities and health activities like community feeding, medical mission and promotions", Antonio told the students during the awarding of the scholarships recently.

Antonio said the scholarship will help attain the dreams and aspirations of students to receive a diploma and work in the future. (PNA)
