MANILA, April 12 – An infant died and five people were injured in a fire that hit a residential area in Novaliches, Quezon City Monday night, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Text Fire Philippines (TFP) reported.

Hit by a fire which rendered some 900 residents homeless was an informal settlers’ area at the back of the Puregold Supermarket on Commonwealth Ave. near Luzon Ave. in Barangay Culiat, Novaliches. The fire began at 5 p.m. and placed under control by 9:30 p.m.

Arson investigators identified the baby as Joven Ogsamen, who was reportedly left alone inside one of the houses when the fire broke out.

BFP’s initial investigation showed that the fire was due to the illegal electrical connections used by many residents in the area. (PNA) scs/JCA
