DSWD says P656-M released to 4Ps beneficiaries in Region 10

MANILA, April 12 — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that around P656 million has been released to its "Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program" (4Ps) beneficiaries in Region 10 last 2010.

The agency said that the area has 87,996 registered beneficiaries of the anti-poverty project.

This number is also included in 4Ps expansion in 762 or 37.72 percent of the region’s 2,020 barangays from 42 municipalities and three cities covered.

Lanao Del Norte with the most beneficiaries of 43,002 from 358 barangays had the highest cash grant of P368.91 million or 56 percent followed by Misamsis Occidental, P141.12 million or 22 percent for 19,899 beneficiaries from 220 barangays.

The cash grants in the other provinces were as follows: Bukidnon, P93.82 million or 14 percent for 17,920 beneficiaries from 142 barangays, Misamis Oriental, P48.89 million or 7.5 percent for 6,579 beneficiaries from 37 barangays and Camiguin, P3.23 million or 0.5 percent for 596 beneficiaries from five barangays.

The DSWD also said an additional 124,886 beneficiaries of the 4Ps program have been targeted by the agency in 2011.

These potential beneficiaries will come from Bukidnon, 47,439, Camiguin, 1,163, Lanao Del Norte, 12,141, Misamis Occidental, 19,692 and Misamis Oriental, 44,451.

By the end of 2011, there will be about 213,062 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya in the region, the DSWD said. (PNA) DCT/FFC/PFN/mec
