MANILA, April 11 — Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin "Win" Gatchalian announced that the city's latest job fair has resulted in the participation of 3,666 job seekers late last week.

This latest job generation activity was held at the Valenzuela City Astrodome in Barangay Dalandan last April 4 and 5.

Gatchalian added that 143 companies participated in the job fair. He also expressed hope that a large majority of the applicants will be employed

Valenzuela Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head Luningning Martin saide the participating companies offered both local and overseas jobs.

She attributes the huge number of turnout to the City Government’s staging of mega jobs fair regularly.

“People have become familiar with our mega jobs fairs that they look forward to our next event," Martin added.

She further said, “These people are either seeking employment or wanting a better job than the one they already have.”

The Valenzuela City PESO has been recognized by DOLE as the best unit in NCR after posting in 2009 a hiring rate of 77.6 percent. The office regularly organizes jobs fairs for the constituency in partnership with local and national employers. (PNA) DCT/PFN/mec
