Tourism Assistant Secretary Benito Bengzon (left) says the Department of Tourism (DOT) is ready for the influx of both domestic and foreign tourists to the country’s numerous beaches, resorts and other tourist spots this summer. Guesting at the “Talking Points” radio program aired over DZRB Radyo ng Bayan Thursday (March 24, 2011), Bengzon reported that about 26 million Filipinos patronized domestic tourism last year. He also said that 3.5 million foreign tourists visited the country in 2010. The twice-a-week “Talking Points” program is hosted by broadcast journalists Allan Allanigue (right) and Grace Simando of the Philippine Broadcasting Service. It is a joint project of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) in cooperation with the PBS and the National Broadcasting Network-Channel 4.
