SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Jan. 26 — The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) benefited a total of 10,294 families in Region 1 when they recently received their cash grants through the so-called over-the-counter scheme.

A report to the Philippine Information Agency Region 1 by Allan Lulu, 4Ps Information Officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), showed that those who benefited from the program were listed in Set 3 of 4Ps covering 23 areas.

A total of P88.3 million cash grants were distributed, covering the second to fourth quarter cash grant of the identified beneficiaries, Lulu said.

La Union beneficiaries totaling 1,771 from the municipalities of Burgos, Rosario, San Gabriel and Tubao received a total cash grant of P15.1 millioon.

On the other hand, a total of P34.3 million was distributed to 3,944 out of the 4,015 registered beneficiaries in 13 municipalities of Pangasinan.

In Ilocos Sur, a total of 2,811 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Alilem, Cabugao, Cervantes, Quirino, San Emilio and Suyo also received a total cash grant of P24.19 million.

At the same time, a total of 1,716 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Batac, Marcos, Pinili and Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte also received a total cash grants of P14.7 million.

Quoting Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman when she visited the region, Lulu said the cash grants were delayed last year because of some adjustments and innovations undertaken on the Pantawid Pamilya System.

Lulu said the cash grants will be released on a bi-monthly basis this year based on certain conditions to be complied with by the beneficiaries.

The cash grant distribution regionwide was held in partnership with the DSWD, through the supervision of Director Leonardo Reynoso, Landbank of the Philippines and the 23 Pantawid Pamilya municipalities. (PNA)
