PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Jan. 8 – Seven engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-2nd Engineering District were ordered suspended by the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon after figuring in anomalies involving infrastructure projects in Palawan.

A copy of the decision that was shared to Palawan media stated that engineers Mon P. Camacho, Jr., Nestor D. De la Cruz, Mario G. Soriano, Rudy A. Angulo, Maria Fe Cayao, Francisco L. Nacasi and Romulo Villadica are being suspended for six months.

Apparently, the order from the Deputy Ombudsman was approved for discharge by the DPWH Secretary on December 3, 2010.

The complaints against the engineers of the DPWH-2nd Engineering District, which covers road and infrastructure projects in Southern Palawan, were filed by Dr. Jose Antonio Socrates and a certain Engr. Emmanuel Escandor.

Socrates filed a complaint in May last year claiming the engineers were involved in the major mismanagement of the Malampaya-funded infrastructure projects in Southern Palawan worth some P100 million. (PNA) <brf>LAM/CARF
