MANILA, Aug. 29 — Malacanang believes that it is now time to prepare for a ‘red carpet’ welcome to Venus Raj who bagged the fourth runner-up crown in the recently concluded Miss Universe beauty pageant.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma said on Sunday, many Filipinos are asking President Benigno Aquino III to celebrate and rejoice after Miss Raj was crowned fourth runner up in the Miss Universe pageant.

According to Coloma, we already observed the national day of mourning for the victims of the Quirino Grandstand hostage-taking wherein eight Hong Kong tourists were killed.

”I think it is now time for us to celebrate for the triumph that Miss Venus Raj has achieved after she was crowned 4th runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant,” Coloma told government-run radio station Radyo ng Bayan.

It is reasonable that we have a celebration, although we do not have official confirmation regarding the date. Many of the Filipinos wanted for a national celebration like how we welcomed Manny Pacquiao and other Filipinos who won internationally],” Coloma also said. (PNA)
