CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao, Aug. 23 – Chief Superintendent Bienvenido Latag, police regional director in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), has ordered the Marawi police to bring the suspects in the murder of two university students behind bars.

Police Senior Inspector Annie Rose Alvarado, PNP-ARMM spokesperson, said Latag's order came after he received a radio message about the murder of two male college students of the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City.

Latag gave the Marawi PNP to submit progress reports daily on the killing of Mark Anthony Ticson, 21, and Ever Sosillo, 19, both engineering technology students and residents of Barangay Rapasun-Sikap in Marawi City.

The victims were walking on their way home from a nearby internet cafe when two unidentified suspects, a man and a woman, fired at them in front of the MSU tennis court at past 12 noon Saturday.

After the shooting, the suspects quickly fled on board an owner type jeep driven by one of the suspects.

Both sustained bullet injuries in the head and body and died on the spot.

Responding policemen recovered empty shells for 9mm cal. pistol.

Identities of the suspects and the motive remained unknown as police investigators admitted nobody would like to come out and testify.

Alvarado, citing police reports, said the motive could be personal grudge.

Latag also directed Marawi City PNP to be proactive and institute measures to ensure the safety of MSU students. (PNA)
