PDEA opens provincial office in Davao Norte

PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte, Aug. 23 — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recently opened its new provincial office in Panabo City to serve the outlying areas in this province.

“We hope to minimize, if not totally eradicate the drug menace in this province more particularly in Barangay Madaum, one of the pinpointed barangays in Panabo following the killing of the barangay captain here due to drug problem,” PDEA regional director Roybel M. Sanchez stressed in his opening remarks.

Sanchez expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Panabo officialdom for providing a drug enforcement office at Panabo hall.

Panabo City Mayor Atty. Jose L. Silvosa and Davao del Norte Vice Governor Victorio Suaybaguio also committed to support the fight against the abuse on illegal drugs to attain government's vision in making the country a “drug-free Philippines”.

“We plan to establish drug enforcement offices in the whole Region 11 purposely to be able to be of reach immediately in resolving illegal drug problems,” Sanchez said, adding that the Panabo Drug Enforcement Office which will be manned by PDEA Agent Canada.

“Rest assured that we will also do our share to match your (PDEA's) effort in keeping our youth away from this drug menace,” said Vice Governor Suaybaguio.

Panabo PDEA office is located in the second Drug Enforcement Office. The first was put up in Digos City, Davao del Sur early this year.(PNA)
