Eight persons electrocuted in Sorsogon City

MANILA, Aug. 17 – Eight persons were accidentally electrocuted in Sorsogon City on Monday afternoon, a ranking police official said Tuesday.

Quoting initial reports from the field, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Sr. Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the fatal accident happened at around 5 p.m. Monday in Sitio Kimontod, Barangay Guinlajon.

Cruz identified the victims as Gilbert Janaban, 18; Arnel Janaban, 26; Ronald Macapagal, 21; Jose Macapagal, 64; Leopoldo Roldan; Sadam Roldan; Eric Janaban, and Benito Jintalan.

Cruz said investigation showed that Jintalan was removing the construction frame of his newly-constructed septic tank in his backyard when the temporary electrical wiring in the site short-circuited.

In the process, Jintalan was electrocuted.

”The other victims just tried to help one another but same were electrocuted,” said Cruz. (PNA)
