New senators to get briefing on 2010 national budget

MANILA, Aug. 9 – The new senators of the 15th Congress will get briefing on the provisions of the 2010 General Appropriations Act on Tuesday morning.

The seminar for the senators who were not members of the last 14th Congress will be conducted by the Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office under Director General Yolanda Doblon.

”It is necessary for the new senators to familiarize with the present national budget which in general will be the basis of the 2011 General Appropriations Bill,” Senator Franklin Drilon said.

Aside from Drilon, who is chairman of the committee on finance, other senators to get briefing include: neophyte Senators Teofisto Guingona Jr. and Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as well as come-backing Senators Sergio Osmena III, Ralph Recto and Vicente Sotto III.

Drilon said briefing is open to other senators and to the Senate media.

Malacanang has submitted a proposed national budget for next year worth P1.750 trillion. (PNA)
