MANILA, July 29 – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) anti-carnapping (ANCAR) unit said Thursday it has arrested nine suspected carjackers believed to be members of a notorious syndicate operating in Metro Manila.

QCPD Director Chief Supt. Benjardi Mantele identified the suspects as Ricardo Ocampo, Jhon Oliver Darlucio, Jeffrey Ramirez, Angelito Bernardino, Rowena Silverio, Cesar Catulig, Ruel Manquilas, and Rodolfo Cruz, suspected members of the “De la Cruz gang” led by a certain Glen de la Cruz.

Mantele said the QCPD-ANCAR unit recovered from the suspects one Fuso truck, one Isuzu Canter truck, one cannibalized truck, one Toyota Tamaraw FX Almazora, one Toyota Starlet, one Suzuki multi-cab mini pick-up, one Motor Star motorcycle and one SYM motorcycle.

QCPD ANCAR unit head Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo said his men swooped down on a compound in Sikatuna Subdivision, Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City, last July 27 after receiving tips from reliable informants about a gang using the place as a hideout. (PNA) RMA/JCA
