MANILA, July 23 — Philippine Air Force (PAF) chief Lt. Gen. Oscar Rabena is happy with the pronouncement of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III that he has no plans of replacing the military officer.

“The CG, PAF (commanding general, Philippine Air Force) is honored with the trust and confidence that the President has in him,” said Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Miguel Ernesto Okol.

Okol assured that Rabena will continue to lead the PAF in consonance to the plans and policies of the Commander-in- Chief (Aquino).

“He will also ensure that the Air Force will always be a responsive partner to peace and development initiatives of government,” he added.

In a press conference following the installation on Friday of new Philippine Army chief Maj. Gen. Arturo Ortiz in Fort Bonifacio, President Aquino said he has “no plans” of replacing Rabena.

Rabena is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1978 that also includes former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as an honorary member.

Rabena was named by Mrs. Arroyo as Air Force chief over a year ago. (PNA) scs/VR
