MANILA, July 15 — A Cabinet member belied speculations President Benigno Aquino III is less hardworking than his predecessor former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who's known to work even on Saturdays.

Department of Social Welfare and Development Sec. Corazon 'Dinky' Soliman clarified Mr. Aquino works hard also as he's held weekend meetings on government matters aside from discussing these with officials concerned during his regular Monday to Friday grind.

She noted Malacanang hasn't publicized such weekend meetings, though.

"The President holds these meetings without informing the public," she said.

Soliman believes Sundays are rest days for the Chief Executive, however.

During her nine-year incumbency as head of State, Mrs. Arroyo undertook many activities nationwide and abroad.

Several of these activities were scheduled even on weekends.

The number of her successor's official engagements are expected to increase over time as well.

Mr. Aquino commenced his work on June 30 this year after assuming the presidency that day.

Among activities he undertook during his two week-old administration are holding Cabinet meetings and attending his first command conference with the military. (PNA)
