CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, July 13 – The National Nutrition Council (NNC)-Cagayan Valley Region has turned over a Nutri cart and livelihood checks for each barangay nutrition scholars in Isabela as they culminated the 36th Nutrition Month celebration Monday at the Francisco L. Dy Coliseum here.

Nutrition program coordinator Rhodora Maestre said the council’s advocacies were focused on nutrition through the theme “Sa Pagkaing Tama at Sapat, Wastong Timbang ni Baby ang Katapat!” and the battlecry on “One Nutrition, One Nation.”

The NNC awarded a "nutri cart" and P5,000 as capital each for the Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars in Isabela.

The nutri cart has been built as a pedicab to be used in peddling fresh, affordable and nutritious foods with Sangkap Pinoy seal as recommended by the NNC in Region 2.

The cart will also doubly function as medium in delivering messages relative to various advocacies of the NNC, Maestre said.

Isabela Governor Faustino Dy III joined NNC officers and members in launching the “One Nutrition, One Nation” movement which encourages everyone to take active participation to promote good nutrition and help solve hunger and malnutrition.

In his speech, Dy III urged villagers to help him prevent malnutrition in the communities.

Dy admitted that although malnutrition has been prevalent across the nation, the problem "will be contained if there will be a unified approach to ensure the health of villagers." (PNA)
