PCG apprehends nine boats for illegal fishing off Camarines Norte

MANILA, July 10 –The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has apprehended nine fishing boats for illegal fishing and poaching off Camarines Norte and other violations of fishery laws.

Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo, PCG commandant, said the fishing boats were apprehended on Thursday at 6:20 a.m. by Pmembers of Coast Guard Detachment Mercedes on board a hired motorized banca while conducting patrols at vicinity of Pandawan Fishing Port, Mercedes, Camarines Norte.

The apprehended boats were identified as F/B Morning Star-8, owned/operated by Pescadores De Mercedez, Camarines Norte was apprehended after its fishing vessel ship safety certification had expired and without tonnage measurement certification; F/B Prince Karla, owned/operated by Jhoana Karla Mabanan of Barangay Palaan, Sariaya, Quezon for no fishing vessel ship safety certification and failure to comply with minimum manning requirements;

F/B Lady Rona, owned/operated by Edezer De Chavez of Barangay Palaan, Sariaya, Quezon for no fishing vessel ship safety certification and failure to comply with minimum manning requirements; F/B Dona Shirly Fe of Dalahican, Lucena City for engaging in fishing activities without fishing vessel ship safety certificates and for failure to comply with minimum manning requirements;

F/B Lannette, owned/operated by Ludigario Magdia of Dalahican, Lucena City for not having copies of ownership certification, without fishing vessel ship safety certification and vessel registry, failure to comply with minimum manning requirements and without tonnage measurement certificate;

F/B King Manuel, owned/operated by Henry King of Daet Camarenes Norte for expired fishing vessel ship safety certification and failure to comply with minimum manning requirements; F/B Marlon, owned/operated by Manuel Cerrudo of Palaan Sariaya, Quezon for having no fishing vessel ship safety certification and failure to comply with minimum manning requirements;

F/B Kimberly Dianne, owned/operated by Roselito Bagnes of Brgy Rnsohan Lucena City for no certification of ownership, without Certification of Vessel Registry, without fishing vessel ship safety certification, failure to comply with minimum manning requirements and without tonnage measurement certification; and

F/B Princess Imee, owned/operated by Joselito Bagnes of Brgy Ramsohan Lucena City for no certificate of ownership, vessel registry, fishing vessel ship safety certification and failure to comply with minimum manning requirements and without tonnage measurement certificate.

Personnel of Coast Guard Detachment Mercedes advised the owners/operators to stop their operations until the deficiencies are rectified and duly noted by Maritime Industry Authority Industry RO-V.

Maritime Violation Receipts (MVR) will be forwarded to Marina RO-V for proper disposition.

The apprehension is part of the PCG’s intensified campaign on vessel safety enforcement.(PNA) RMA/JES
