MANILA, June 18 –The Manila Police District (MPD) is probing the shooting to death of a policeman inside his electronics shop in Manila on Thursday night.

Police identified the victim as Police Officer 1 Robin de Guzman, 29, assigned with the Philippine National Police Headquarters Support Services (PNP-HSS) in Camp Crame, and resident of 518 Ronquillo Street, Barangay 307 Zone 230, Quiapo, Manila.

He died upon arrival at the Metropolitan Hospital due to multiple bullet wounds in the body.

Police Officer 3 Jonathan Bautista of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section, said the incident occurred at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, inside De Guzman’s electronics store at his home.

De Guzman was talking to his employee Leonard Espinosa regarding the plan of a customer to pick up a videoke machine when unidentified man arrived.

The assailant pulled out a handgun of unknown caliber and shot the victim.

As the victim fell to the ground, the gunman fled aboard a waiting motorcycle.

Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo Jr., MPD homicide section chief, said police were looking into a love triangle angle. But he refused to elaborate pending the arrest of the suspect.

De Guzman had been receiving death threats through text messages sent to his mobile phone since last month. “The messages warned that his days are numbered,” Margarejo said. (PNA) RMA/JES
