MANILA, June 15 – Thousands of commuters, including teachers and students in all levels were stranded in a two-hour heavy downpour in Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Traffic Enforcement Unit told the Philippines News Agency (PNA) that major intersections in QC such as EDSA and Quezon Avenue in Diliman, Visayas Avenue in Vasra and E. Rodriguez in Cubao were clogged with traffic due to flashfloods.

The PNA learned, after a check with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), that there is no weather disturbance but only an afternoon rainshower with thunderstorms.

The thunderstorms caused power outages in some areas in Quezon City. (PNA) vcs/JCA
