MANILA, June 1 — Malacanang on Tuesday refused to comment on presidential frontrunner Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III’s offer to TV host Boy Abunda the portfolio of the Department of Tourism (DOT).

According to Press Undersecretary Rogelio Peyuan in a media briefing on Tuesday, the Palace refused to comment on a particular person being offered by Sen. Aquino to be among his Cabinet.

”I don’t think that would be proper. Except in the case of our colleagues in the current administration Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral which they made public as well as the current PNP chief Jesus Verzosa. But other than that we are of course respectfully just reading and watching what the next administration is going to do and we have to extend all the prayers and respect for the next administration that they will be able to put up their good team to govern the Republic of the Philippines,” Peyuan added.

Sen. Aquino on Monday told reporters at his residence in Times St., Quezon City that he is considering Celebrity host Abunda a Cabinet post or another government position because of his strong marketing and communications skills.

”Thinking about it from a marketing perspective, things that you want to market the Philippines for. He will be a good communicator,” Aquino referring to Boy Abunda who is a close friend of her sister Kris Aquino-Yap.

TV host Abunda had acted as family spokesman when President Cory Aquino died last August 2009 at the Makati Medical Center.

Noynoy also pointed out that Abunda studied at the Ateneo de Manila University and later took up further studies in International Relations at the Philippine Women’s University (PWU).

But Abunda said that he is not inclined to accept any offer in the Aquino government and he is not ready to leave his showbiz career as talk show host and talent manager. (PNA)
