MANILA, March 26 –- Police authorities on Thursday safely rescued two minors an hour after they were kidnapped in Tagaytay City, a ranking police official said Friday.

CALABARZON Police Regional Office (PRO) director Chief Supt. Rolando Anonuevo identified those rescued as two-year-old Christian Alexander Joven, and eight-month-old Gilbert Joven.

Anonuevo said the kidnapping of the two was reported to the Tagaytay City Police at around 7 a.m. by their guardian Romeo Joven, 35, a television commercial producer and a resident of Country Villa B, Jestra heights Subdivision located along Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Barangay Francisco in Tagaytay City.

The elder Joven told the Tagaytay police that suspect, Bernard Lituanas, 26, who initially demanded P200,000 from Joven without any reason.

Joven said he refused to give in to the demand, prompting Lituanas to forcibly take the children to Joven’s Nissan Xtrail with licensed plate numbers XTR-938 and drove towards Laguna.

The Cavite Provincial Police Office (PPO) immediately dispatched teams to track down the vehicle. Anonuevo said the police also located Lituanas’ last known address in Barangay San Isisdro in Bagong Nayon, Antipolo City, Rizal where he and his companion, Rex Alvarez, were cornered at around 8 a.m.

The victims were also rescued safely from the hands of the suspects. Also recovered was the Nissan Xtrail of the elder Joven.

Anonuveo cited the quick response by the Cavite and Rizal provincial police offices that led to the successful operation.

”This is another classic example of citizen’s cooperation that led to successful police operation. So, we urged the public to continuously work with us to keep our places safe from unscrupulous individuals,” said Anonuevo. (PNA) FFC/MM
