Enough power supply for W. Visayas during elections assured

ILOILO CITY, March 24 –- Western Visayas has been assured sufficient power supply this coming election, according to Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional director, lawyer Dennis Ausan.

Ausan said they invited various power providers in the region during their Joint Security Coordinating Council (JSCC) meeting held at the Camp Martin Delgado here on Tuesday.

Among those who attended the meeting were the Panay Power Corporation (PPC), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Salcon Development Corporation (SDC) and other power barges operators.

“They have sufficient power reserve this election,” he said.

The NGCP during its several presentations on power supply has been assuring the public of enough power reserve by end of this month.

This is brought about by the commissioning of the 60- megawatt Cebu Energy Development Corporation (CEDC) and augmentation from Luzon.

Other power sources are the Cebu Thermal Power Plant 1 with a capacity of 50 mw has been under test and Mahanagdong Power Plant in Leyte.

The JSCC meeting was also attended by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP). (PNA)
