Comelec to wrap up month-long BEIs training in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY, March 24 — Members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) who will be serving in the coming May polls in Western Visyas are now ready.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional director, lawyer Dennis Ausan said they are slated to wrap up this weekend the almost month-long training for some 12,000 members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) who will be fielded in 6,406 clustered precincts all over the region.

The training for BEIs covered general instructions following the shift from manual to automated elections and the procedures and operations of the Precinct Computer Operation System (PCOS) machine.

Comelec regional director lawyer Dennis Ausan said the BEIs, who are already information technology (IT) capable after the examination given them by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Ausan added that the PCOS intended for Western Visayas are scheduled to arrive in April.

Of the 6,406 PCOS intended for the region, the highest number will be for Iloilo's 2,392 clustered precincts; Negros Occidental, 2,050; Capiz, 674; Antique, 656; Aklan, 492 and Guimaras, 142 clustered precincts. (PNA)
