MANILA, March 11 – A notorious gunrunner, who identified himself as an active “lieutenant “of the Philippine Marine Corps, was nabbed late afternoon Wednesday by the combined military intelligence operatives and policemen at his residence at B14-L18-P4 Edenburg St., Palmera Homes, Barangay Sta. Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Miguel Jimenez, aka Michael/Mike/1LT Jimenez, was apprehended by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 100 with criminal case number Q-08-154923 for frustrated murder.

Gerald Sarsola, the personal gunsmith of Jimenez, was also arrested during the serving of the warrant of arrest.

The 3rd floor of the house of Jimenez served as a workshop where firearms and ammunitions are manufactured, repaired and stored. Found and confiscated in the possession of the suspects were numerous high-powered guns, ammunitions and explosives, and three pieces of car registration plates and numerous tools and equipment which were apparently used in gunsmith activities.

The apprehension of the suspects resulted from long surveillance and can be attributed to the timely, accurate and fast validation of facts and reports, said Marine spokesman Capt. Gwyn Amargo.

"It was found out that Jimenez is not a registered owner, manufacturer and dealer of firearms and ammunition based on the verifications made at the Firearms and Explosive Division of the Philippine National Police and was never a member of the Philippine Marine Corps," said Amargo.

At present the suspects are in the custody of the Southern Police District.(PNA) RMA/VR
