ILOILO CITY, March 5 – The Public Service Employment Office (PESO) of the city government opened starting this month an assistance center for jobseekers in local and overseas employment at the third level of Robinsons Place.

This is aside from their main office at the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Iloilo Terminal Market Building.

PESO Iloilo City Manager Alan Zaldivar said they want to reach out to those who are looking for jobs, especially the new graduates.

“We want to personalize our approach so the job applicants will feel that they are really important,” Zaldivar said.

PESO accepts the application and resumé, matches the qualifications with the job opening, and then forwards the documents to the agencies.

The agency will be the one to keep in touch with a prospective employee after PESO’s referral.

Currently, the assistance center in the mall caters to not less than 20 applicants a day.

“The center will continue serving the public until the end of the year, and for as long as there are applicants looking for work either here or abroad,” Zaldivar stated.

He said they are promoting a lot of job vacancies in both local and overseas employment, like in the medical profession, skilled work, information technology, hotel and restaurant management, health service, and household service.

Some of the destinations listed were Dubai, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi.

As of this month, three overseas companies posted their vacancies, while at least 10 local companies did the same.

Meanwhile, some company representatives will arrive in Iloilo City to conduct job interviews and hire employees on the spot.

Scheduled dates for interview are March 8 to 11, March 17 to 19, and March 22 and 23 at the Conference Room of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Iloilo Terminal Market Building. (PNA) LAP/LNMontealto/vlo
