PGMA to inspect irrigation project in Vigan

VIGAN, Ilocos Sur, Jan. 26 — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will inspect on Wednesday the P2.488-billion Banaoang Pump Irrigation Project (BPIP) here, which is expected to benefit 5,334 farm households in eight municipalities.

Designed to improve farm yield, construction started in March 2003 and is expected to be completed by May 31 this year.

The towns to be benefited are: Bantay, Vigan, Caoayan, Sta. Catalina, San Vicente, San Ildefonso, Sto. Domingo and Magsingal.

The BPIP in Ilocos Sur is the second in the President’s Ilocos-wide inspection of projects.

The President will be flown in by chopper and will be received by key local officials and the National Irrigation Administration. (PNA)
