PNP ensures security of Dinagyang revelers

ILOILO CITY, Jan. 12 — The Philippine National Police (PNP) city police office here will implement cohesive security plans for revelers and guests of the Dinagyang Festival held in this city on the fourth week of January with highlights on January 22-24, 2010.

Police S/Insp. Lourdes Banzuelo, chief of the city police community relations section, said the ICPO will more than 5,000 police multiplier force that will include 500 policemen from the ICPO and mobile groups from Camp Delgado.

A contingent of about 200 soldiers from the military will also augment the peace and order situation here.

The force will be augmented by volunteers from the Bantay Bayan, barangay tanods, ROTC cadets and other volunteers to ensure peace and order and deter criminal acts during the festival activities.

Banzuelo said the police will also establish nine community police assistance centers in strategic areas and checkpoints during the week-long festival. (PNA)
