(Metro News) Pateros residents avail of ‘mobile passporting’

MANILA, Jan. 1 — About 300 Pateros residents availed recently of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) “Mobile Passporting” project.

According to Pateros Mayor Joey Medina, those who successfully completed their application need only to go to the Municipal Hall on January 9, 2010 to get their processed passports.

The Executive Assistant’s Office is scheduled to release 294 passports. Six of the passports are from walk-in applicants.

Medina thanked his constituents for responding well to the project and at the same time assured them that the local government would continue putting out similar services despite having been ravaged by floods.

The Municipal Hall began giving out application forms for the passports last October 26, or about a month removed from the onslaught of tropical storm Ketsana (“Ondoy”).

Pateros folk have since gone back on its feet as floodwater slowly receded from the town’s streets. (PNA)
