MANILA, Nov. 10 — Around 800 poor residents of Barangay Polo benefited from the Valenzuela local government latest medical mission.

Valenzuela City Health Office officer-in-charge Dr. Jaime M. Exconde Jr. said the Polo residents were provided with free medical check-examinations, which also included optical and dental consultations, and provision of free medicines.

Exconde lauded Valenzuela City First District Representative Rex T. Gatchalian for his assistance in the medical mission.

The medical mission was complemented by a feeding program to 248 undernourished children from 10 different daycare centers.

Valenzuela Health Education and Promotion (HEPO) officer Pia Dizon said the supplementary feeding aims to impart nutrition as a vital component in the city's thrust to grass-root level poverty reduction efforts.

"A child will learn and do better if his nutritional well-being is well taken care of," she said.

Rep. Gatchalian personally distributed toiletry kits and goody bags to the beneficiaries, who were also oriented to the basics of good hygiene practices by the city health office. (PNA)
