Silliman University MassCom Students train with Probe Media

DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct. 31 — Eight junior and senior students of the College of Mass Communication (CMC) of Silliman University participated in the Regional Youth Media Summit-Visayas Leg on October 26-28 in Cebu City.

Implemented by the Probe Media Foundation, Inc. (PMFI) in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef), the youth summit dubbed, “CRC 20 Na! Ano Na?” aims to help young media practitioners broaden their understanding of children’s rights issues and enhance their journalism skills, said SU Information Director Mark Raygan Garcia.

The participants and the respective areas they represent were: Eliora Eunice Bernedo and Ebony-Arianne Lautner (photojournalism), Mary Grace Nidoy and Emarrah Contessa Sarreal (print/newsletter production), April Joyce Aquino and Alton Jave Tenorio (radio production) and Kathyrine Mercado and Hannah Leah Pa-a (video production).

The participants underwent a three-day training workshop on children’s rights issues and journalism techniques after which they are expected to exhibit, publish, or air their workshop outputs in their respective organizations and communities, said Garcia. (PNA) /V3/jfp/PR/
