MANILA, Oct. 27 — The German government has extended the amount of Euros 1-million (about P70 million) for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and those who became ill or were wounded in the Mindanao conflict, German ambassador to Manila Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch said.

The funds are released through the International Committee of the Red Cross, to be used for humanitarian activities "from now until the end of year 2009," the ambassador said.

In a related humanitarian move, Germany has just provided an additional amount of Euros 800,000 (about P55 million) for the victims of "Ondoy" and "Pepeng." This contribution adds to the initial Euro 500,000 that was given much earlier on September 30. In total, Germany gave about P90 million to the typhoon victims. (PNA)
