Speaker Nograles leads ceremonial groundbreaking of Davao school new gymnasium, cultural center

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 2 -– House Speaker Prospero C. Nograles led the groundbreaking ceremony for the gymnasium and cultural center of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) located in Bo. Obrero, this city Thusday.

The 3,500-square meter gym will benefit not only the USeP community but the entire Davao City. It is the biggest single area for sports, concerts and large scale activities ever to be put up in Davao City.

The construction of the gymnasium, which will have an 8,000 seating capacity, will commence soon with the availability of its initial budget of P60 million.

The project is the congressional initiative of the speaker, through the efforts of USeP president Dr. Perfecto Alibin.

Other officials who witnessed the event were Nograles’ son and chief of staff lawyer Karlo Nograles, USeP vice president for Administration Dr. Rodulfo C. Sumugat, USeP vice president for Academic Affairs Dr. Daniel Ugay Jr., faculty members and students of the school.

Some officials of the barangay were also present.

The younger Nograles said another P40 million has been allocated on top of the original P60 million budget for the project. (PNA) FFC/ASA/lvp
