(Metro News) MTDEU issues traffic advisory for Alay Lakad and Bar exams on Sept. 6

MANILA, Sept. 4 — The Manila Traffic District Enforcement Unit (MTDEU) on Friday issued a traffic advisory for the twin occasions of “Alay Lakad sa Kabataan 2009” and the 2009 Bar examinations, both slated on Sunday, Sept. 6.

MTDEU Chief Superintendent Rizaldy Yap also advised the bar examinees to go to the site at De La Salle University on Taft Ave. early to avoid possible heavy traffic since the occasion coincides with the annual Alay Lakad.

According to the traffic advisory, the following roads will be closed to traffic at exactly 4 a.m.: northbound and southbound lanes of Roxas Blvd. from Anda Circle to President Quirino Avenue; P. Burgos from Roxas Blvd. to Lagusnilad, east and west bound; T.M. Kalaw from Roxas Blvd. to Taft Ave., east and west bound, and Ayala corner Finance.

All vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Blvd. northbound lane will have to turn right to P. Ocampo or President Quirino and then turn left Taft Avenue to point of destination.

Yap said all public utility vehicles traveling along A. Mabini St. should turn right to Pedro Gil or may either go straight and turn right to U.N. Avenue and then left to Taft Ave. to point of destination.

On the other hand, vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila which will cruise the stretch of Roxas Blvd. southbound lane coming from Del Pan Bridge–Pier Zone shall take A. Soriano Ave., go straight to Magallanes Drive, right P. Burgos and then straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Ave.) to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from MacArthur, Jones and Quezon bridges passing through the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. from P. Burgos will have to go straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Ave.) to point of destination.

According to Yap, cargo trucks traveling along Osmena Highway are to turn right to President Quirino Ave., straight ahead to Nagtahan, A.H. Lacson , Yuseco St., crossing Jose Abad Santos straight to Raxabago and Capulong to points of destination.

All cargo trucks, trailers, vans and other heavy duty vehicles coming from Road-10 intending to cross Del Pan Bridge shall be diverted to Capulong to point of destination. Those who are on a return trip are to use the same route.

For the bar exams, Yap said the stretch of Taft Ave. southbound lane from President Quirino to P. Ocampo will be closed from 3:30 a.m. up to 6 p.m.

All vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila that need to pass through Taft Ave. towards the south will have to turn right to President Quirino, go straight to Roxas Blvd. or left to Adriatico, left to P. Ocampo to point of destination.

Those coming from President Quirino (Roxas Blvd.) traveling via Taft Ave. going south should go straight and turn right to Leon Guinto to point of destination. (PNA) scs/JES
