ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug. 28 — Government forces have launched search and rescue operations on a teenage grandson of a former town mayor in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, who was abducted by armed men on Thursday afternoon.

Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) acting information officer Maj. Ramon David Hontiveros said victim Jayjay Capili, the grandson of former Liloy Mayor Belchu Uy, was seized by four gunmen, riding on a multi-cab vehicle, near a gasoline station in Barangay Baybay Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte at about 5 p.m. Thursday.

The multi-cab, colored light green with registered plate number GKP-406, sped towards the shore in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Baybay.

Upon reaching the Sitio Lawis, the suspects forced the victim to board one of the three waiting motorized bancas and then sped towards the high sea, Hontiveros said.

Military forces as well as policemen from the 901st Provincial Mobile Group are tracking down the whereabouts of the victim and scouring all possible places where the victim could have been brought by the abductors.

Directorate for Integrated Police Operation (DIPO)-West spokesman Supt. Jose Bayani Gucela said they had yet receive reports on the whereabouts of the victim.

Gucela said the motive of the abduction was not yet known since there was no call yet made by the abductors to the families of the teenager.

Investigation continues to unmask the identity of the suspects, according to Gucela. (PNA)
