MANILA, Aug. 13 –- The Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) today said it has uncovered P500 million worth of imported signature watches and precious stones from Hong Kong, China.

PASG head Undersecretary Antonio “Bebot” Villar said at a press briefing today in Malacañang that PASG operatives uncovered the loot during a raid at the condominium units of a British national in Pasig City last Monday, August 10.

Villar identified the owner of the items as Alpha Kwok who was maintaining business at the 17th floor of Pacific Place, Amethyst Street corner Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

The PASG head said he was informed that the imported precious articles entered into the country through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) bypassing Customs and Airport officials.

Villar said Kwok failed to present import documents and receipts as proof of payment of proper duties and taxes covering the seized imported precious articles.

“PASG operative PO2 Florante Azur received intelligence report that Kwok was selling bulk of signature watches, semi-precious stones and precious stones at Pacific Place,” Villar said. (PNA)/V3/JCA/
