(METRO NEWS) P30-M counterfeit New Era caps seized

MANILA, July 6 –Some P30 million worth of counterfeit New Era caps (at average cost of genuine product), were seized by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during simultaneous raids in Manila last week.

Raided were five sales outlets of A.S.L. Trading and/or Adelina M. Guzman Caps and/or Rorozam’s Head Wear Store and/or Chen Zhi Gong located at Stalls 1E-18, 1J-07 and 1N-11 Ground Floor, 168 Shopping Mall, Sta. Elena Street, and at Stalls CUG 43-45 and Stalls EUG 16-18, Ground Floor, New Divisoria Mall, Tabora Street, all located in Binondo, City of Manila.

Also raided were American Boulevard stores at SM City Manila and at Robinsons, Manila.

The raiding team confiscated from the seven establishments 13,815 counterfeit New Era caps and 3,060 counterfeit 59Fifty stickers.

The New Era Cap Co., a headwear maker based in Buffalo, New York, is the exclusive manufacturer and marketer of the official on-field cap worn by every Major League Baseball team and their minor league affiliates, and maintains agreements with other licensed entities including NHL, NBA and over 200 colleges and universities in the United States.

The NBI is readying charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, or Republic Act 8293, against the erring establishments.(PNA)
